New Mexico Wild – Nancy Morton Wilderness Intern
This paid position will focus on the outreach and communications needs related to New Mexico Wild’s mission of protecting New Mexico’s Wilderness, wildlife and water. The Wilderness Intern will also complete data and information management assignments related to our online hiking guide and a river guide we’re developing.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist with volunteer recruitment and engagement
- Plan and staff outreach and tabling events with an emphasis on membership acquisition and community engagement
- Proactively create community outreach and membership drive opportunities
- Online Hiking Guide (hike.nmwild.org) maintenance and email communications
- Engage with the Advancement team on a broad variety of organizational matters concerning communications, outreach, fundraising, administration, and stewardship
- Assist with social media content planning and creation for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Twitter
- Assist with graphic design projects using Canva
- Complete minor website updates using WordPress
- Assist with research, mapping, writing, and outreach related to the development of our Statewide River Guide
Desired Experience
- Managing and organizing data related to Advocacy and Outreach
- Canvassing or event outreach
- Creating social media content, including short-form videos for TikTok and Instagram
- Graphic design and experience working with Canva
- Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
- Volunteer organizing
- Technical and creative writing skills
