Backcountry Cooking Recipe Contest

This past summer, our first Nancy Morton Wilderness Intern, Isa Nellos created a backcountry cookbook, Wild Munchies. 

In celebration of her hard work and awesome cookbook, we are hosting a backcountry recipe contest!

The Contest

The Backcountry Cooking Recipe Contest will run from November 2021 to May 2022. Every entry must be suitable for backcountry cooking and fit within one of the contest categories: Breakfast, Trail Snacks, Main Dishes, Desserts.

Each entry must include a recipe with ingredients, step-by-step directions and serving portions, and an attached picture of the prepared dish.

Judging and Prizes

After the conclusion of the Contest, New Mexico Wild employees will judge each recipe on perceived flavor, creativity, visual appeal, and backcountry suitability.

New Mexico Wild will pick two winners from each category. Prizes include camping gear and New Mexico Wild merchandise!
