At Bear Canyon Open Space
Show Your Love for Open Space this Valentine’s Day!
Join New Mexico Wild, the City of Albuquerque Open Space, and the John B. Robert Neighborhood Association for a community tumbleweed cleanup at Bear Canyon Open Space. Volunteers will work together to remove these invasive plants and help care for this important local landscape.
We will be using rakes, ptichforks, and other tools to remove and compact tumbleweeds for hauling off site and composting. Volunteers should wear full-length, thick clothes and closed-toed shoes to protect from tools and pokey tumbleweeds alike! Leather work gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you'd prefer. Work tools will be provided. Please come prepared with water, sun protection, and layers for unpredictable weather conditions. Please note there are no restroom facilities on site.
