*FULL* Trail Clearing and Sign Installation in the Pecos Wilderness

Help us clear an important trail and install signs while camping by a beautiful alpine lake!

From 8:00 am until 6:00 pm

At Pecos Wilderness

We're hosting a volunteer project to clear logs from the trail connecting Stewart Lake to Lake Katherine, two stunning alpine lakes in the Pecos Wilderness. We'll also install signs to keep people from camping within 200ft of the lakes.

The Plan
We'll meet at Cowles Ponds at 7:30 on July 21st for a safety briefing where we'll distribute tools and PPE needed for the project and train you on how to use them safely and effectively. We'll then set out on our 6-mile backpack up the Windsor Ridge Tr. 271 to Stewart Lake, where we will install “no camping 200ft from Lake” signage and set up basecamp for the duration of the trip.

On day 2, we'll hike the connector trail to Lake Katherine where we'll focus on clearing logs from the trail and installing more signage at Lake Katherine (hiking ~6 miles).

On day 3, if time allows, we will close down an unofficial social trail on our hike out (~6 miles).

The Pecos is one of the most beautiful Wilderness areas in New Mexico, especially this time of the year! Come along and enjoy the flowers blooming on the mountainside, summer nights sleeping under the stars next to a beautiful alpine lake, new friends, and the opportunity to be on one end of a vintage crosscut saw!

Difficulty of project: Difficult

# of days and nights: 3 days, 2 nights.

**Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us! This project has reached capacity. Please keep an eye on our events page for upcoming volunteer opportunities this summer and beyond!**
