At Las Cruces
Gather with other wilderness enthusiasts for a group hike to the summit of Picacho Mountain, led by one of our NM Wild Wilderness Rangers! This peak just northwest of Las Cruces provides great views of the Mesilla Valley and the Organ Mountains. This is a ~2.5 mile out and back hike with 700 feet of elevation gain. Expect uneven terrain, lose rocks, and potential icy conditions; good boots and poles are recommended. Participants should bring layers, sun protection, and plenty of water! The hike should take about 2 hours. Please RSVP below.
Date and Time – Saturday, February 28th, at 9 am
Location – Picacho Mountain Trailhead (32.32616, -106.89174). Take highway 70 heading west and turn right on Picacho Hills Drive. Take this road for 2 miles and then turn right on Anthem Drive. Take this road for 1 mile then turn right on Loop Road. After 150 yards the paved road will turn into a dirt road. Take the dirt section of Loop Road for 0.8 miles and turn right on Burke Ranch Road. Take Burke Ranch Road for 0.7 miles until you reach the trailhead.
