Come learn about and assist in one of the oldest and most important contributions to our traditional communities. Acequias are an important part of our past and crucial to our future. You will be assisting a 400-year-old tradition of cleaning an acequia while learning why acequias are an important part of our food system and contributors to our environment. You will be assisting Ralph Vigil and his family to maintain their traditions of growing food for their community and see how acequias are extensions of our rivers and must be preserved. Meet at Adelo’s Country Store in Pecos at 8:00 am. The store is located on 13 S. Main St. in Pecos, NM.
