Lower Gallinas Canyon Hike

30Aug2025

At Gila National Forest

Join New Mexico Wild and Heart of the Gila for a guided hike through the beautiful Lower Gallinas Canyon in the Gila National Forest’s Inventoried Roadless Areas.

Along the way, learn about the Roadless Rule, why these protections matter for New Mexico’s wildlands, and how you can take action to keep them in place. This is a great opportunity to connect with nature, meet fellow public lands advocates, and experience one of the most scenic areas in the Gila.

What to bring:
Plenty of water, lunch or snacks, layers appropriate for changing temperatures and unpredictable mountain weather, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), long pants and close-toed shoes suitable for hiking on uneven terrain. Hiking poles optional.

Meeting time and exact location TBD.
