At Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument
Join New Mexico Wild and Heart of the Gila for this one-day workshop and volunteer project at the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument at the headwaters of the Gila River. We will be learning about the unique flora and ecology of this ancient canyon while hand removing non-native grasses along the trail corridor. Help us protect this delicate habitat while learning what makes Cliff Dweller Canyon so special.
Ranger-guided tour of the dwellings as a bonus!
Join us for the day or opt to make a weekend out of it to explore the Gila River and nearby hotsprings.
What to bring: your own lunch, plenty of water, layers appropriate for changing temperatures and unpredictable weather conditions, sun protection (layers, sunscreen, hat), long pants and close-toed shoes appropriate for working outdoors and on uneven terrain.
We will provide all work tools and protective equipment needed. Bring your favorite work gloves if you have them or we will provide them.
