Position Summary
The Development Manager supports New Mexico Wild’s fundraising and donor engagement efforts to advance its conservation mission. This position is responsible for executing programs to grow our advocacy network and generate unrestricted income for the organization with a focus on three areas: 1) membership acquisition and stewardship 2) annual giving mail and digital fundraising appeals, and 3) fundraising events. To do this work, the Development Manager oversees the organization’s CRM database; creates donor communications and manages production; and provides donor cultivation with a focus on gifts below $10,000.

Position Responsibilities
Membership (40%)
- Collaborate on and then execute an annual plan to generate new supporters, member acquisition, including testing of messages, channels, and timing.
- Develop approaches to increase the number of monthly sustainers.
- Improve the organization’s effectiveness in using social media, email, and other messaging platforms to generate appeal gifts.
- Support the Deputy Director in managing the Aldo Leopold Circle, the organization’s annual giving group.
Development Operations (60%)
- Provide regular development reports on key metrics from the fundraising plan.
- Ensure accurate and timely gift processing and donor data management in the CRM.
- Assure that donor communications are executed and effective for member renewals, gift acknowledgements, tax letters, regular and special appeals.
- Provide fundraising writing for digital and mail communication vehicles in partnership with the organization’s communications team.
- Manage external vendors required for fundraising including printers, list brokers, fundraising software, and consultants.
- Accurately maintain efficient development workflows, procedures, and systems on established timeframes.
- Organize fundraising events in support of the Deputy Director and Executive Director.
Required Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of nonprofit fundraising or development experience, with specific responsibilities for development operations.
- Demonstrated success in managing fundraising efforts across multiple revenue streams.
- Strong fundraising writing and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience with donor databases/CRMs and fundraising software.
- Comfort working collaboratively with staff, board members, and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Nonprofit Management, Fundraising, Communications, or a related field.
- Knowledge of conservation, public lands, or advocacy organizations.
- Experience with CRM database EveryAction a plus.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, exempt position.
Duty location is Albuquerque, New Mexico. Hybrid work environment.
Compensation is anticipated to be between $65,000 and $72,000, dependent on experience, plus health insurance (base plan is 100% employer paid) as well as dental, vision, long-term disability, and life insurance policies (100% employer paid), a 403(b) retirement plan with an employer match of up to 5%, and generous holiday and paid time off benefits.
