From 9:00 am until 3:00 pm
At Meet at Little Walnut Picnic Area near Silver City, NM
Volunteer with New Mexico Wild for a day of removing unnecessary and abandoned barbed wire fencing. This fencing disrupts wildlife and is a nuisance to the public on our public lands. Enjoy the fall weather out in nature and please join us for this fun and important stewardship project.
We'll meet at the Little Walnut picnic area, on October 5th at 9 am. We will split into teams cutting and rolling the fencing, and also trimming the pathway in places so that we can access the fencing.
No experience is required and all necessary tools along with PPE will be provided! Feel free to bring your own gloves and eye protection if you have them.
Most of the day will be spent off-trail in hilly terrain. Expect to hike up to 4 miles throughout the day.
What to bring:
· Long pants, long-sleeve shirt, closed-toe shoes
· A lunch, snacks, at least two liters of water
We will take lots of breaks and stop for lunch. We will wrap up around 3pm.
Thanks for your interest! Registration for this event has closed.
