Event Description
Belltop Mountain towers over the rolling hills of Broad Canyon Country. With herds of mule deer and javelina, coveys of quail, and a large assortment of predators, this area supports outstanding wildlife diversity and offers unobstructed views of the Mesilla Valley and much of south-central New Mexico.
We begin by following our traditional Top of the World Ridge route. But at the top of the route, we take a natural land bridge that brings us to isolated Belltop Mountain—with stunning 360-degree views, rock outcroppings, native wildlife, and the knowledge that were in one of the most beautiful places southern NM
has to offer.
This is a moderate to strenuous walk. Bring a windbreaker, water, and some snacks, and you’re ready to explore. Meet at the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance Office (275 North Downtown Mall, between Day’s Hamburgers and the Rio Grande Theatre).
