Just one stroke of Obama’s pen could mean a new national monument for the Rio Grande del Norte. Thanks to your support, we’re hard at work to make sure that happens.
The Rio Grande del Norte contains some of the most spectacular lands and habitat in all of New Mexico. Plus, the land offers a myriad of opportunities forrecreation and solitude.
Areas within the gorge offer unsurpassed opportunities for whitewater rafting, climbing, bird watching, or relaxing; while the absence of designated trails provides solitude in the Ute Mountain area, even on busy weekends. Other popular activities on and around Ute Mountain include hiking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, and star gazing. The area is prized for its quality hunting, and offers good fishing opportunities for a variety of trout species in a scenic gorge where bald eagles and various raptors soar overhead.
Thank you for all you help us do for New Mexico’s wild places.
Sincerely,
