Threatened with extinction because of political shenanigans, only 21 Mexican wolves roam the wild Gila in the Land of Enchantment.
If there ever was a time to chorus howl in support of this critically endangered subspecies, it is now. Because of your support, the onslaught of bills attempting to drive Mexican wolves to extinction for a second time has failed, so far. The assault, however, continues unabated. For the sake of our children and grandchildren, we must continue howling for wolves!
Across the southwest, the wolf continues to remain in peril—just last week a breeding female was found dead in eastern Arizona.
Watch the video to the right to hear a young New Mexican’s plea to save the wolves:
Give now to help us fight for the Mexican gray wolf.
But why should Mexican wolves be important to each and every one of us? In two words: healthy lands. And healthy lands have everything to do with restoring the balance of nature and the delicate web of life for future generations.
Wolves are top predators that keep elk numbers in check so they don’t overgraze and overbrowse.
With the growth of more trees, there is an increase in the diversity of birds and land animals. As roots anchor the soil, erosion decreases creating healthy streams that support more fish and other aquatic life.
The wild Gila needs wolves, but there must be enough packs roaming free to help heal the land. Healthy forests and streams give us clean water and air.
Please give now to ensure the wolves of the Gila do not disappear.
With your generous support, we will continue working to restore and protect the ecological integrity of our public lands for our children and grandchildren.

Steve Capra
