2010 marks the 10th anniversary of the creation of BLM’s National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS). The NLCS designates areas with outstanding natural qualities. NLCS landmarks in New Mexico include the Sabinoso Wilderness,Trackways National Monument, and El Malpais National Conservation Area, as well as many of the Wilderness Study Areas NMWA is currently working to protect.

Join us on July 10 at the Wild Rivers Recreation Area in Questa. Senator Bingaman will be speaking. John Olivas, NMWA’s Northern New Mexico Director, will be tabling at this event, which will feature live music and family activities, as well as an overview of the 72 NLCS units in our state.
