POSTPONED: Brokeoff Mountains – Hike

Attention– the Brokeoff Mountains hike is being rescheduled for this fall. Contact Steve West or Craig Chapman for more details. stevewest@nmwa.org / craig@nmwa.org

Description: The Brokeoff Mountains are an isolated and poorly known range just north of Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Our trip over Memorial Day weekend will have as its purpose to get to know the area and work on a biological inventory of the site. Few biologists have visited the Brokeoffs, compared to the numbers who frequent the nearby Guadalupe Mountains. From the Guadalupes the Brokeoffs look pretty plain, but across the 65,000 acres the NMWA is proposing for Wilderness can be found deep canyons, unique plant life, and many species of animals.
