Rescheduled: Apache Kid Wilderness Volunteer Service Project

UPDATE:

It’s on! The Apache Kid Service Project has been rescheduled for June 26th. Thank you for your understanding, and hope to see you then!

THE PLACE : Springtime Campground (for camping); San Mateo Peak in the Apache Kid Wilderness (for working).

THE PRO JECT : We’re heading to the famed San Mateo Mountains, home to the Apache Kid Wilderness. This is one of New Mexico’s least visited wilderness areas and certainly one of the wildest and most beautiful. We’ll hike up to San Mateo Peak, traveling in with the Back Country Horsemen. At the top, there are mounds of refuse in and around the fire tower lookout. After picking up the refuse, we will pack it out (with the aid of the horses), knowing we’ve helped clean up one of our wildest areas.

Meals: Dutch oven dinner Saturday night. Breakfast Sunday morning.

Maximum participants: 10−15

Project leader: Nathan Small

Driving distance: Approximately 3 hours from Albuquerque and Las Cruces

REGISTER for this event. There is a $10.00 administrative fee due upon registration.

Thank you for visiting! Come back soon...
